So what is new...
We have just finished the book of James in our bible study, YABS. It is a good book - I'd done a little on it before, the first couple of chapters. It's an encouraging book. Funny though, because sometimes - like novels etc. - the thing that attracts me to a book is the name. And, I like the name James, so go figure! I wonder what we're going to do next...I reckon we should maybe have a look at Ecclesiastes or Acts. We haven't done Acts in YABS, I had to go through it a fair bit - and in detail - at YITS, but it was good! Mmm...guess we'll find out on Wednesday.
Baz is going to be back on night shift as of Monday night. Bit sad, but he's taking over from a guy who has been doing night shift for a fortnight, lives half an hour away and his wife and newborn baby are sick. So I can understand that. It's just the I finish work around 5pm and live at the complete opposite end of town and he starts at 6pm. Don't get to see that much of him. And that's okay...but then things like YABS, I miss him there 'cause it's our group thing. He sleeps during the day, when I'm at work...and usually wakes up around the end of my lunch break! So even if there was the ability to slot in a lunch date once, it couldn't really happen - he'd be tired.
Anyway, June 12th - my big surprise night has been and gone. And to those who are like Shez at work...no I am not wearing anything shiny and bling bling on my left ring finger! Probably quite far from that! (Not in a bad and sarcastic way, just being realistic, taking all things into account.) Baz took me to the Frankston Art Centre to see the Soweto African Gospel Choir. I just looked them up on the art centre's site to get the correct spelling and found out that it was sold out! It was pretty packed. They were amazing. It's incredible - African people can just sing or dance or just move - and it's beyond good. Anyway, big win. Gospel music, I was hangin' out for 'Oh Happy Day' when they sang 'Amazing Grace' and 'This Little Light of Mine'...and they sang it right at the end!! Their spirit, vibrance and passion just shone through so incredibly! Their outfits were so bright and full of colour too, and their smiling faces. Gee I'd love to be part of such a vibrant, enthusiastic, passionate group of people singing and dancing because they love it! There was this one item they did, 'in the canteen'. It was just the guys. They had three guys starting off, just sitting at the table with their plates, glasses and cutlery...just tapping along. They were clever with their rhythm's and then a few others started dancing...then singing - a few 'mmmms' you know. It was really clever, quite entertaining and just yeah! I was quite impressed! I love that unusual type of percussion. Like 'Thump!' that group from Flinders Tyabb campus. Good as.
At the moment, I am watching Sox try and get into a plastic cylinder type container with a screw on lid. It's quite cute. There's dry food in there. He's rolling it and touching it with his paw.
