For the moment, they are my words. I could glam them up, add a few more, or even drab them down…but I don’t want to paint a picture of a young woman who would seem attractive to the world and grasp the attention of people around her. I want to describe an accurate image of who I think I am, what makes me that person and who or what I want to be. I will try and give it some more thought and post later.
I also want to share that I’m trying to learn from my younger self and bring back a little more of the outgoing and confident girl that some of you may have met more in previous years. She’s been hiding, but it’s time for her to step out and shine.
A few other things on who or what I want to be…patient. I am working on my patience and learning from those around me to be a little more care free and not so ‘on the dot’ about some things. It’s not always a smooth and easy ride though, so please pray for me!
I’m also making a conscious effort to think about what I’m saying before I say it, and how it might come out. I’m working on taking constructive criticism too. But the mould isn’t complete yet…and like one of my words above, never will be…
It is great to come to the realisation that you are not yet the person you want to be. Aw shucks, your growing up. :p
Being honest with ourselves and with others about our weaknesses is important because it gives us something to strive for.
I know that for myself in my rush to 'grow up' and 'be an adult' I too have forgotten some of my younger self. Maybe I need to reconnect with the 18 year old who was able to run an activity called "Liam's adventures" with no preperation and on the spur of the moment.
PS. Could you update the link to my new blog on your sidebar. thanks.
Good on you for exploring who you are and who you hope to become. It is great to realise that we are not everything that we will be and have so mcuh ahead of us. Don't forget to value the now! Take your time :)
Last week for class I had to give my life story, I spent a bit of time reading through old journals and it was interesting to observe the huge changes in my perspectives and beliefs, as well as the values that had been consistent throughout my life. It was also interesting to examine my image of God and when it came from and how it has evolved as my faith has developed.
Keep on the journey, for that is the part that matters most of all!
